About Grace Presbyterian Church
Why are we called “Orthodox”?
We are Orthodox because we adhere to the Word of God as established in the Canon of Scriptures, the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments. We are led by what the Bible teaches and do not project human imaginations onto the Word of God to suit our perceptions.
We believe that the Bible is…
Sufficient
We find our entire authority in the teaching of the Word of God. The Bible and the Bible alone, Sola Scriptura, is our confession.
Necessary
The Bible is the revelation of God’s person and will. “Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord” (Duet. 8:3)
Inerrant
The Bible is free from error as it comes from the hand of God. “The law of the Lord is perfect….The testimony of the Lord is sure….The statutes of the Lord are right….The commandment of the Lord is pure….The fear of the Lord is clean….The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.” (Psalm 19:7-9) “All scripture is given by inspiration of God….” (2 Tim. 3:16)
Clear
The Bible is clear, it is the fruit of Divine revelation.
We are “God Centered”
Because we adhere to the Word of God as revealed in the Bible, because we are Orthodox, we are God centered:
- “The chief end of man is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever” (WSC Q.1)
- We believe in a Triune God. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit: immutable, almighty, one and only God, omniscient, omnipresent, glorious, and holy.
